As we embark on a journey towards a better Asia – an Asia that moves as an integrated regional entity, that enthusiastically pursues regional and global agenda with a sense of shared fate – we realize that we are rather ill-equipped in terms of knowledge and understanding of Asia and Asian countries. More often than not, we learn about each other from news selectively churned out by international (/Western) news agencies. Worse, we acquire misguided understandings about each other from popular stereotypes.

In response to this pressing need, we endeavored to create a virtual repository of materials about Asia , from Asia , by Asians, for Asia and the world. This is our small contribution towards promoting knowledge and understanding within and about Asia.

What can you find here? The must-reads and must-sees in each Asian country! Current news articles and commentaries from the ground ( e.g. Indonesian news with Indonesian views!), book recommendations and reviews, significant journal articles dealing with political, economic, and social issues of the different Asian countries, illuminating works on traditional and popular culture, English translations of key works in each Asian country, synopses of noteworthy documentary films, comic strips, cartoons, and many others. If the entire work cannot be made available on this site, links are provided as to where they can be sourced.
