BABA4, News!

Bolivia is a country located in the very heart of South America and its main feature is the variety it depicts. From its geography, natural resources to the people it self. With different races, and immigrants from numerous countries living together. I was born and raised in a very beautiful city named Santa Cruz de La Sierra. As for me, the thing that makes Santa Cruz special, is the rhythm of life and the warm weather that makes one feel like summer is present almost all year. People in my city are hard workers, cheerful and very social. “Family” gets a very important meaning, and it is cherished and cared with tenacious effort and sacrifice.

A special memory I have from my childhood will be with no doubt summer vacations at my grandparents country house. As they were immigrants from Japan, they lived in a colony of other immigrants. They never got to learn spanish and as me and my siblings were unable to speak japanese, our communication was taken in a different level where words were not needed that much. My grandparents lived in an “old fashion” japanese style, working as agriculturists and having a very simple life. I loved their wooden house, their tatami floors and the smell of trees and pure air around. As the strong temper, mischievous child I was, I made my grandma get mad several times. Taking her futons from the closet and hiding myself instead to surprise her was one of my favorite games. My mother told me some years ago, that whenever my grandma was complaining about me she was hiding a proud smile behind. I guess she liked the tomboy, dynamic character I was.
